How Botox works
Botulinum toxin type A blocks the release of acetylcholine at the junction between nerve and muscle. The injected muscle relaxes, so the skin above it folds less and expression lines soften. In the masseter, reduced activity lets the muscle gradually become smaller, which slims the lower face over several weeks.
Results depend on accurate dosing and placement. Our physicians assess how your muscles move before deciding units and injection points, aiming for a natural, rested look rather than a frozen one. Nerve activity recovers over time, so treatment is repeated every few months. Botox can be combined with skin boosters or fillers for lines that remain at rest.

Aftercare

Does Botox hurt?
Most patients feel only brief, small pricks. Numbing is not usually needed, though ice or numbing cream can be used on request.
How long does Botox last?
Effects on expression lines usually last 3–4 months. Jaw slimming often lasts a little longer, around 4–6 months, and regular treatment can extend intervals.
Can I fly home after Botox?
Yes, flying the same or next day is generally fine. If possible, plan a stay that allows a 2-week review, or send us photos via WhatsApp.
What is the difference between Botox and Xeomin?
Both are botulinum toxin type A and work in the same way. Xeomin is purified to remove complexing proteins, which some doctors consider for patients concerned about antibody resistance.
Will I look frozen?
Our physicians tailor doses to keep natural movement. Lighter dosing gives a softer result, and adjustments can be made at the review.
What are the side effects of Botox?
Common effects are small bruises, mild headache or tenderness. Uncommonly, a toxin can spread to nearby muscles and cause a temporary droopy brow or eyelid, which settles as the effect wears off.
