How chin fillers work
A firm, high-lift HA filler is placed deep on the bone of the chin, where it acts like a soft implant. Depending on your anatomy, the doctor may add projection at the front, length at the bottom or a slightly narrower, more tapered shape. The goal is harmony between the forehead, nose, lips and chin.
Your physician assesses the profile from the side and the front, and checks your bite and lip closure. If a tight chin muscle causes dimpling, a small dose of Botox may be suggested alongside the filler. As with all HA filler, the result can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed.
Your treatment day
- Profile assessment Your physician examines your profile, photographs it if you agree and agrees target shape with you.
- Numbing Topical anaesthetic is applied for around 15–20 minutes in your private room.
- Injection The doctor places filler deep on the chin bone with a needle or cannula, checking the profile as they go.
- Review and aftercare You compare the new profile in the mirror and receive written aftercare instructions.
