How lip lift fillers work
Your physician looks at the length of your upper lip, the height of the philtrum columns and the curve of the Cupid's bow, both at rest and when smiling. Tiny amounts of a soft hyaluronic acid filler are then placed along the philtrum columns and the vermilion border. Raising these ridges shortens the visual length of the upper lip and gently turns the lip outward.
The total volume is small compared with lip augmentation, so the lips gain definition rather than size. In some cases, a small dose of botulinum toxin can be added to let the upper lip roll out slightly further. A filler cannot match the change from a surgical lip lift for a very long upper lip, which your doctor will explain honestly. HA filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase.

Aftercare
- Avoid kissing, drinking through straws and pressing the lips for 24 hours
- Skip lipstick and lip products for 12 hours
- Avoid very hot drinks while numbness lasts
- Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and alcohol for 24–48 hours
