How Xeomin works
Like all botulinum toxin type A products, Xeomin blocks acetylcholine release where nerves meet muscle, so the treated muscle relaxes and the lines above it soften. Nerve activity gradually returns, which is why results are temporary and treatment is repeated.
Xeomin's distinguishing feature is that it contains only the active toxin, without complexing proteins. Some doctors prefer it for patients having frequent or high-dose treatments, because complexing proteins are thought to play a role in antibody formation that can reduce response over time. Clinical results for lines are broadly similar to other type A toxins when dosed appropriately, so the choice is made with your physician.
Your treatment day
- Consultation Your physician reviews previous toxin history, checks how your muscles move and agrees the areas to treat.
- Preparation The skin is cleansed and injection sites are marked, with ice available for comfort if you wish.
- Injections Xeomin is injected in small doses with a fine needle, usually taking only a few minutes per area.
- After treatment You can leave straight away and return to normal activities, following simple aftercare for 24 hours.

Neither is better for everyone. Both are botulinum toxin type A with similar results for lines. Xeomin has no complexing proteins, which some doctors prefer for patients who have frequent treatments.
Does Xeomin hurt?
It feels like a few quick pricks. Most patients do not need numbing, but ice or numbing cream can be used.
How long does Xeomin last?
Results typically last 3–4 months for expression lines. Jaw slimming may last longer, and timing varies between individuals.
Can I switch from Botox to Xeomin?
Yes. Patients can switch between type A toxins, and doses are adjusted by your physician based on your previous response.
Can I fly after Xeomin?

What are the side effects?
