How fat-dissolving injections work
The doctor marks the fat pocket and places a series of small, evenly spaced injections into the fat layer. The formulation disrupts the membranes of fat cells in that spot, causing a local inflammatory response. Over the next few weeks the body clears the released fat through its normal processes, so the area gradually looks flatter or more defined.
Because treatment is precise and local, it suits small areas where shape matters, such as the under-chin profile. It does not change body weight, and remaining fat cells can still grow if weight increases. If loose skin is a bigger issue than fat, the doctor may suggest pairing it with skin tightening or non-surgical facial contouring.

Fat-Dissolving Injections FAQ
Do fat-dissolving injections hurt?
Most people feel stinging or burning for a few minutes after the injections, then tenderness for a few days. Cooling or numbing is used where helpful.
How many sessions will I need?
Usually 2–5 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart. Small facial areas often need fewer sessions than body pockets.
Can fat-dissolving injections help me lose weight?
No. They reduce fat in one small area and do not change your overall weight. For weight management, our doctors discuss options such as Mounjaro or Wegovy.
Are the results long-lasting?
Fat cells broken down in the area are cleared by the body. Remaining fat cells can still enlarge if you gain weight, so a stable weight helps keep the result.
What are the side effects?
Swelling, tenderness, bruising, redness and temporary numbness or firmness are common. Rarer risks, such as nodules or nerve irritation, are discussed at consultation.
Can I fly home after treatment?
Yes, but plan for visible swelling for a few days, especially under the chin. If you need more sessions, the doctor can plan timing around future visits.
