Types of under eye wrinkles
Naming the type of line matters, because a treatment that helps one type may do little for another.
- Fine dehydration lines that look worse in dry air
- Crêpey, tissue-paper texture from thin skin
- Dynamic creases that appear when you smile
- Static lines that stay visible at rest
- Soft folds from early lower-lid laxity
- Lines made more visible by hollowness below
Once the type is clear, our under eye wrinkle treatment page shows how a course is planned. For lines at the outer corner, see crow's feet treatment.
Why under-eye lines form, and what fits each cause
Lower-eyelid skin is much thinner than cheek skin and has little fat support. Collagen and elastin decline with age and UV exposure, so the skin creases more easily and recovers more slowly. Repeated movement from smiling and squinting etches dynamic lines, and dryness exaggerates fine lines. Where volume is lost below the eye, the skin above can fold, which is why some lines are really a contour problem.
Thin, crêpey skin usually responds to skin-quality treatments such as Rejuran Healer, PN, exosome therapy and LDM ultrasound. Static lines and mild laxity may also benefit from gentle Potenza RF microneedling. Dynamic smile creases can be softened by a very small dose of botulinum toxin placed with care. Lines caused by hollowness may need a small amount of filler, assessed on the under eye rejuvenation overview.
How we assess your under-eye lines
- History Your physician asks when the lines appeared, how your skin feels day to day, and about sun exposure and skincare.
- Rest and movement check The doctor looks at the area at rest, while you smile and while you look up, to separate static from dynamic lines.
- Skin imaging Mark-Vu II imaging may be used to show texture, pigment and redness that are hard to see in a mirror.
- Cause-based advice You receive a clear explanation of your line types and the treatments that suit them, with a quote if you wish to proceed.
What improvement looks like
Under-eye lines usually soften gradually as skin quality improves, rather than disappearing overnight.
Are Under Eye Wrinkles right for you?
Usually a good fit
- Fine lines or crêpey texture beneath the eyes
- Creasing that bothers you when smiling
- Early lines you want to address before they deepen
- Those preferring gradual, natural-looking change
Talk to your doctor first
- Marked excess lower-lid skin, which may need surgery
- Large eye bags, where lines sit over herniated fat
- Dry eye or recent eye surgery, discussed with the doctor first
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Matching under-eye wrinkle types to treatment
Most people have more than one type, so the doctor matches each to its best option.
| Compare | Under eye wrinkles (cause) | Skin-quality injections | Botulinum toxin | Filler |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Thin, crêpey skin | Collagen loss, sun damage | Well suited | Little effect | Not the right tool |
| Smile creases | Repeated muscle movement | Helps texture | Very small dose can help | Not the right tool |
| Lines over hollowness | Volume loss below the eye | Helps skin quality | Little effect | May help if carefully placed |
| Folds from laxity | Loose lower-lid skin | Mild help | Little effect | Can worsen if overdone |

Under Eye Wrinkles FAQ
Why do I have under eye wrinkles in my 20s?
The skin under the eyes is very thin and moves constantly, so fine lines can appear early, especially with dry skin or sun exposure. Early lines often respond well to hydration and skin-quality treatment.
Are under eye wrinkles the same as crow's feet?
No. Crow's feet fan out from the outer corner and are mainly caused by muscle movement. Under-eye wrinkles sit on the lower lid and are more linked to thin skin and dryness.
Can eye cream get rid of under eye wrinkles?
A good moisturiser can make fine dehydration lines look softer, and some ingredients support skin quality over time. Established crêpey or static lines usually need in-clinic treatment.
Does filler fix under eye wrinkles?
Filler only helps lines caused by hollowness beneath them. It does not thicken crêpey skin and can look puffy if overused in this area.
Can Botox treat under eye wrinkles?
A very small dose of botulinum toxin can soften smile creases in selected patients. It must be placed carefully, as too much can affect lower-lid support.
How much does treatment for under eye wrinkles cost?
Cost depends on your line types and the treatments chosen. Message us on WhatsApp at +82 10 6463 5532 for a personalised quote.
Can I prevent under eye wrinkles from getting worse?
Daily sunscreen, sunglasses, gentle skincare and not rubbing the eyes all help. Starting skin-quality treatment early can also slow visible change.
